Hi there! I’m Caitlin - the emerging artist and designer behind Disco Swell’s growing brand.
Drawing inspiration from my love for the California’s 70’s Golden Era, I craft each piece with soul and sewing nostalgia into the seams one hat at a time.
Slowly and mindfully creating wearable art with a handcrafted approach for all custom hats, jewelry hat bands and apparel pieces.
As a California native and living in the mountains of Telluride, I create pieces that withstand the elements.
Professionally trained in millinery and making traditional cowboy hats, I’m an expert in both trades to ensure incredibly high quality that lasts generations.
Each custom piece is one-of-a-kind and serves as a canvas for my unique art.

Greetings from 1975.
Disco Swell was born on California’s coast and built in Telluride.
Embracing it’s roots, Disco Swell is its own genre unifying coastal and mountain culture.
Disco Swell handcrafts custom hats from scratch in Telluride.
Each hat is made by hand by using the tried and true traditional handcrafted methods - from hat blocks, sewing in leather sweatbands and sculpting each hat’s shape.
Free-spirited and cultivating authentic community through inclusive self-expression and unisex timeless style.
Bootstrapped company co-founded by two sisters, Caitlin and Hanna Sappington. Made local. Limited small batch production.
